Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of PicSift, a photo curation application published by Syrinx Ventures, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading or using PicSift, you agree to these Terms.

1. License

PicSift is licensed, not sold, to you. Your use is governed by Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Standard EULA"), except where these Terms provide additional terms.

2. Description of Service

PicSift uses on-device machine learning to analyze and score your photos for aesthetic quality, technical quality, composition, and other attributes. It provides tools for curation, search, face grouping, duplicate detection, and export.

3. Service Tiers

• PicSift (Free) — Core scoring, curation, and export with session and export limits
• PicSift (Unlocked) — One-time purchase removing limits and adding People Hub, tags, advanced Smart Albums, and more

Features, limits, and pricing are described on the App Store product page and within the app. We may adjust contents and pricing for future purchases; existing purchases are honored at their original terms. Additional tiers may be introduced in the future. All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store.

4. AI Scoring Disclaimer

PicSift's quality scores, tier classifications, scene categories, and rankings are generated by machine learning models and represent approximate, automated assessments. They are not professional evaluations.

You acknowledge that:

• Scores are probabilistic estimates, not objective measures of photo quality
• Different scoring models and settings produce different results
• Scene classification, face detection, and duplicate detection may produce incorrect results
• Scores should inform your decisions but are not a substitute for your own judgment

We are not responsible for decisions you make based on PicSift's scores, including deleting, archiving, or sharing photos based on their tier classification.

5. Your Content

You retain all rights to your photos and curation decisions. We do not claim any ownership or license to your content. PicSift does not copy, upload, or transmit your photos.

6. Machine Learning Models

PicSift includes and optionally downloads ML models derived from published academic research, provided under their respective open-source licenses. We may update, replace, or retire models in future versions. Model changes may alter scoring results; re-scoring is available at any time.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble PicSift or its ML models
• Extract, redistribute, or commercially exploit bundled ML models separately from PicSift
• Use PicSift in any way that violates applicable law
• Misrepresent PicSift's scores as professional assessments or certifications

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

PicSift is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Syrinx Ventures, LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of PicSift. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for PicSift in the twelve months preceding the claim.

10. Third-Party Components

PicSift incorporates third-party open-source software and ML model artifacts under their respective licenses, listed in the in-app Acknowledgements section.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be noted in PicSift's release notes.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States.
